Atheist understanding of christianity
It’s late and I want to make an entry so I will keep it brief. Many of the online comments and videos I see from atheists seem to have an incredibly poor understanding of basic Christian teaching that it makes me wonder, do atheists really believe what they are saying, were they taught these poor religious understandings, or are they being deliberately deceptive?
There is a guy on you tube who goes by the name Tommyfromthebronx. He’s a nice guy, however his videos are laced with vulgarity and he is reminscienct of the rocky balboa character from the Rocky movies.
In any case, he recently released a you tube video where he goes on to make a number of statements and it was sad really. Sad because if this individual really believes the things he is saying, some of us really let him down.
This poor dude thinks that God created the ten commandments knowing that we could not live up to them as a means of deceit so that he could turn around and torture us for our failings.
This man does not understand what the purpose of the law is. God gave man the law as a means to be able to attain righteousness so we could see that we could not live up to this law and we would need a savior, not so we could be punished.
God made man in his image. God could not duplicate himself because the would be multiple Gods so he created something in his likeness, something that could house him. We are not God and a simple test to prove that is the law itself. Only Jesus lived up to the law, fulfilled it, and took it upon himself and no longer are we bound by the law but we are redeemed through Jesus who did what we could not.
And it only makes sense that out of all of the creatures in the universe, only one is right in God’s eyes and that is God himself, his own word mmaifest in the flesh as his begotten son, Jesus Christ. He became a flesh and blood man, a form which he will retain forever, died on the cross after much suffering and resurrected. Defeating death with death itself. Pure genius. If only we explained this better to atheists.

Really? Really? You have one example from a single atheist video you watched. Where are all the atheist you speak of? Some other evidence would make your critique much more credible. Obviously you are a christian and have a right to your opinion but I have the right to think your opinion is stupid. Ever stop and think that what people believe is theirs and not yours to comment on? Ever stop and understand why other people believe what they do? Maybe you could do some research and then comment so next time you don’t sound so ridiculous. And just for fun I will share my opinion of you; Your a weird religious creep who never shuts up about jesus this and jesus that not realizing that the people you are preaching this stuff to refer to you as a “jesus freak” you probaly get a chubby when you see sarah palin in the media and when confronted with any resistance to your incessant “lord is my shepard” talk you mention something about faith. In reality your just an arogant douche in a pious bag… But hey that’s just my opinion.

Wow, this blog really upset you that much? This was a reflection on how we as Christians have done a poor job sharing our faith. It seems you just have to mention the word atheist and someone gets upset. You missed the entire point of this blog.

Sharing a faith is not the same as pushing it on people. To share the faith implies that you let others know about it not make them think as you do. What logical or faithful argument could you possibly have for always thinking your faith is somehow the one faith? Letting someone know your beliefs is great but if that person doesn’t agree with your view why explain it over and over again? People are ignorant but have great capacity to comprehend and to repeat yourself constantly undermines intelligent thought. Keep your faith and think logically maybe you could understand what god really wants you to be.

Christopher, no one is suggesting pushing anything on anyone. The venues I partipate in are open discussions by both sides and no one is twisting the arm of another, especially online, to read or participate. The moment the topic of religion comes up one can simply click their mouse.
Just as no one forced you to come here not once, but twice.
As for God really wanting me to be something, the bible already lays that out.

I could simply click a mouse button it seems internet dwellers forget that sometimes. I mean no harm to you or your blog I misunderstood your post. In all reality I figured there would be many more comments on your post really. It seems like most blogs are run by stay at home moms with opinions and no tolerance for opposite viewpoints. I respect you for putting up with my ignorance and hope your blog gets more readers soon.

Thanks. My blog is more of an outlet for me and for those on you tube who used to watch my vids that now I don’t make because it has just become too toxic there.
